Falck Schmidt Defense Systems secures order worth millions

FSDS achieved a satisfactory result in 2009 and has great expectations for 2010. With a full order backlog of over USD 40 million, FSDS will take on more employees and make additional investments in research an development.

Solid R&D investments

FSDS is a leading technology supplier of elevatable weapon and sensor systems, carbon-fibre based components, military electronics and power supply systems, has made substantial efforts and solid investments in research an development activities over many years.

According to the Chairman of the Board, Henrik Bornebusch, Attorney, the company is now reaping the benefits of these efforts:

- We have worked intensively in recent years with implementing a new strategy and we now have the results to show for it. For example, we have been very successful with our missile launch pad, which has an elevation height of approx. 20 m. It was developed in 2007/08 and has now been tested with SAAB’s RBS 70 ground-to-air missiles with excellent results, says Mr Bornebusch.

The company’s CEO and owner, Jan Falck Schmidt, is also very optimistic:

- 2009 resulted in a satisfactory profit of just over DKK 2.4 million. The upcoming projects and orders, primarily for elevatable systems for missiles and sensors, are worth more than USD 40 million, says CEO Mr Falck Schmidt.

These orders, which are mainly from international clients in the NATO countries and from the Danish military, will be executed over the coming 3-4 years, which means that the company needs to take on more employees.

International expectations

Falck Schmidt Defence Systems, which today has 49 employees, is in a strong position on the international market. International orders now amount to more than 95 % of the company’s total revenue. According to CEO Mr Falck Schmidt, international relations will be intensified even further in the coming years.

- In 2009, we signed cooperation agreements with several leading international suppliers of fighter airplanes to the Danish military, especially Boing and SAAB. These cooperation agreements are based on our technologies and products; their potential value is in excess of DKK 1 billion, says Mr Falck Schmidt.

The CEO adds that the cooperation agreements have already resulted in orders from Boing for delivery in 2010.
